| Château Montus is the benchmark estate of Madiran and showcases the full potential of the Tannat grape. The vines are planted on steep, south-facing slopes covered with large pebbles over brown clay, a hot but well-drained terroir that ensures perfect ripeness. The blend is dominated by Tannat with a share of Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes are picked by hand, vinified parcel by parcel and matured for many months in French oak barrels. The bouquet delivers black fruits, cherry and plum with notes of spice, tobacco, toast and a touch of leather. On the palate Montus is powerful and concentrated yet balanced, with fresh acidity, firm but polished tannins and a long, savoury, spice-laden finish. | |
