Ch.Mauvesin Barton Moulis – A true delight from Médoc
Château Mauvesin Barton lies in the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation between Margaux and Saint-Julien and is owned by the Barton family. Some forty to fifty-five hectares of vines grow on a patchwork of gravel, clay, sand and limestone, with an average vine age of around thirty-five years. The vineyard is planted mainly with Merlot, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Grapes are partly hand harvested, vinified plot by plot and aged in French oak barrels. The bouquet reveals blackcurrant, blackberry and cherry with floral notes, herbs and a hint of smoke. On the palate Mauvesin Barton is juicy and medium-bodied, offering ripe tannins, bright acidity and an elegant, slightly mineral finish that makes it very approachable even in youth.
