CategoryWines - Red wine

For Connoisseurs: Ch. Phélan Ségur Saint-Estèphe from St. Estèphe
Château Phélan Ségur is a leading estate in Saint-Estèphe, with vineyards on clay-gravel soils close to Montrose and Calon Ségur. The grand vin is based on cabernet sauvignon and merlot with small amounts of cabernet franc and petit verdot. Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum are joined by notes of licorice, herbs and gentle smokiness. On the palate the wine is medium- to full-bodied, with firm yet ripe tannins, fresh acidity and a cool, mineral finish. It is an ageworthy, elegant Saint-Estèphe that pairs beautifully with braised dishes, roast beef, lamb and savoury meat cuisine. With a few years of bottle age, its texture becomes even more velvety and complex.
