For connoisseurs: Ch.d'Armailhac Pauillac from Pauillac
Château d’Armailhac is a 5th Growth Pauillac owned by the family of Baron Philippe de Rothschild. Around 70 hectares of vines are rooted in deep gravel over limestone and planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a small share of Petit Verdot. After plot-by-plot vinification, the wine is aged for around 16 months in oak barrels, a significant proportion of them new. The bouquet reveals cassis, blackberry and cherry with violet, graphite, cedar and subtle spice. On the palate Château d’Armailhac is concentrated and silky, with ripe tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, refined finish that captures classic Pauillac character.
