Ch.Cos d'Estournel Saint Estèphe: The essence of true craftsmanship
Château Cos d’Estournel, a 2nd Growth in Saint-Estèphe, sits on the hill of Cos at the southern tip of the appellation, close to the Pauillac border. Its 100 hectares of vineyards are planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot plus Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot on deep gravel mounds with clay and limestone. The estate vinifies each parcel separately and ages the wine in a high proportion of new oak. The bouquet delivers cassis, black cherry and plum together with graphite, exotic spice, incense and cedar. On the palate Cos d’Estournel is powerful and concentrated yet remarkably silky, with muscular, ripe tannins, cool freshness and a very long, complex finish – a benchmark Saint-Estèphe with unmistakable personality.
