Clos du Marquis Saint Julien 2004 1,5l
| Brand | Clos du Marquis |
| Region | Europe - France - Bordeaux - Left Bank - Medoc - St. Julien |
| Category | Wines - Red wine |
| Clos du Marquis is produced by Château Léoville-Las Cases from prime gravel terroirs in Saint-Julien. Vines rooted in deep gravel with clay subsoils, slightly set back from the Gironde, give structure, finesse and a distinctly classical Médoc character. The blend is led by cabernet sauvignon with merlot and cabernet franc, and the wine is aged in French oak barriques. The bouquet reveals blackcurrant, plum and blackberry with cedar, graphite and subtle tobacco. On the palate Clos du Marquis is medium to full-bodied, with firm yet refined tannins and lively acidity. A long, elegant finish with dark fruit, cocoa and a fresh, mineral edge makes it an excellent companion for entrecôte, lamb chops and slow-cooked meat dishes. | |

Clos du Marquis
In Saint‑Julien on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, Clos du Marquis has worn its own name since 1902—borrowed from the ‘Petit Clos’ beside the Marquis de Las Cases residence. Often mistaken for a second wine, it is intentionally a distinct cuvée, drawn from selected parcels of the appellation beyond the celebrated Grand Clos....more from Clos du Marquis
