| La Vinya del Vuit El 8 is a rare Priorat red from a tiny, organically farmed vineyard near Gratallops. Eight friends, including René Barbier and Sara Pérez, share the work in this project. Old-vine Cariñena and Garnacha planted on dramatic llicorella slate yield intensely concentrated grapes. The nose suggests dark berries, plum, liquorice and rosemary on a smoky, mineral backdrop. On the palate El 8 is powerful, spicy and firmly structured, with dense yet ripe tannins. The very long finish recalls graphite, warm stone and Mediterranean scrubland – a serious Priorat for unhurried, contemplative drinking. | |
