For connoisseurs: Le C des Carmes Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan rouge from Pessac-Leognan
Le C des Carmes Haut-Brion is the second wine of Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion in Pessac-Léognan. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, supported by Merlot and a touch of Petit Verdot. The nose combines cassis, blackberry and dark cherry with violet, graphite and gentle smokiness. On the palate the wine is silky, aromatic and finely structured, with ripe, tightly knit tannins. Lively acidity and the cool, gravelly minerality of the terroir provide lift and definition. A contemporary yet classic-feeling Pessac-Léognan, ideal with rib-eye steak, lamb or mature hard cheeses. Give it some air in a large glass to reveal further layers of nuance.
