Yves Cuilleron Condrieu Les Chaillets: The essence of true craftsmanship
Condrieu Les Chaillets by Yves Cuilleron comes from very steep terraced vineyards on granitic soils; “Chaillets” is the local name for these stone‑walled terraces. The vines are mainly old Viognier, yielding little but very concentrated fruit. On the nose the wine offers apricot, white peach and ripe pear with floral notes, honey, almonds and gentle spice. On the palate Les Chaillets is powerful, dense and precise, with creamy texture, ample richness and lively acidity backed by marked minerality. Subtle oak ageing adds complexity through hints of vanilla, toast and a long, slightly salty finish. A great, age‑worthy Condrieu that pairs beautifully with fine fish, lobster, scallops, poultry or mature soft cheeses.
