| Chapoutier Saint Joseph rouge Les Granits: The essence of true craftsmanship | |
| M. Chapoutier Saint-Joseph Rouge Les Granits comes from a steep single vineyard planted with very old syrah vines rooted directly in bare granite. Biodynamic farming and hand-harvesting result in tiny yields and great aromatic intensity. The bouquet shows blackberry, blackcurrant and dark plum with violets, pepper, graphite and smoky notes. On the palate Les Granits is powerful, firmly structured yet silky, with tightly woven ripe tannins and pronounced mineral tension. The long, spicy and slightly salty finish marks it out as one of the most characterful syrahs of the appellation. It is a superb partner for beef, lamb, game, slow-cooked stews and mature hard cheeses. | |

In Northern Rhône, the Maison M. Chapoutier has shaped the Côtes du Rhône Nord since 1808—then rewrote its modern chapter in 1990 when Michel Chapoutier took the helm. Biodynamic farming, living soils and meticulous parcel work define their steep slopes from Hermitage to Saint‑Joseph and Cornas, on granite, rolled stones and clay‑limestone seams....more from M.Chapoutier
