Chateau de Chamirey
Above the vineyards of Mercurey in Burgundy, Château de Chamirey stands on a rocky promontory as a landmark of the Côte Chalonnaise. Built in the early 18th century, the château gained its distinctive towers after a fire destroyed the neighbouring chapel. In 1934, the Marquis de Jouennes began estate bottling; today Amaury and Aurore Devillard continue the fifth-generation family heritage.About 37 hectares are planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, including roughly 15 hectares of Premier Cru vineyards. Key climats include the white monopole La Mission, the red monopole Les Ruelles, Clos du Roi and Champs Martin. High-density planting, selective hand harvesting and rigorous sorting form the basis. After long vatting divided into several stages, most wines mature for around 18 months in oak barrels, only a portion of which is renewed each year. The result is a precise expression of Mercurey shaped by parcel identity, disciplined élevage and enduring Burgundian craftsmanship.
