For Connoisseurs: Ch.Reysson Haut Médoc from Medoc
Château Reysson is a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur estate in the Haut-Médoc owned by Dourthe. Its vineyards in the northern Médoc are planted on unusual clay-limestone soils more reminiscent of Saint-Émilion, with merlot and cabernet sauvignon as the main varieties. The wine shows a deep colour and aromas of black cherry, cassis and plum wrapped in notes of licorice, violet, tobacco and subtle spice. On the palate it is juicy, structured and elegant, with ripe, fine-grained tannins and a fresh, saline edge. The combination of density and lift makes it a versatile partner for beef, lamb, slow-cooked dishes and hearty pasta.
