Coche-Dury
At Coche-Dury in Meursault, in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, a family story of patience and exactness comes into focus. Léon Coche laid the foundations in the 1920s, Georges Coche expanded the holdings from 1964, and Jean-François Coche joined his wife’s name, Dury, to a style that redefined Meursault. The vines lie in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Auxey-Duresses and the grand cru Corton-Charlemagne. Chardonnay stands in the light, while Pinot Noir remains part of the inheritance. Limestone marl, old vines, low yields and minute parcel selection form the quiet mechanism behind the legend.
Coche-Dury is famed for tension, reduction, precise oak and an almost ascetic cellar discipline. Under Raphaël Coche the thread continues: nothing is rushed, nothing polished for effect. The wines feel cut from stone, lees and time.
