Domaine Clair Doü
Behind Domaine Clair Doü in Bourgogne stands the story of the legendary Domaine Clair-Daü, a name closely linked to Marsannay and the Côte de Nuits. Born from the union of Joseph Clair of Santenay and Marguerite Daü of Marsannay, the estate built a twentieth-century reputation for deeply Burgundian fidelity to place. The domaine was celebrated for parcels in villages and crus such as Marsannay, Gevrey-Chambertin, Bonnes-Mares and Clos de Bèze. Pinot Noir stood at the centre, carried by limestone, marl, old vines and the fine parcel logic that has shaped Burgundy more than any other region.
Clair-Daü now feels like a historic echo: a name for fragrant, precise, often transparent Burgundies that spoke through origin rather than force. Its bottles tell of an era when domaine work, family ownership and cru thinking were inseparable.
