Domaine Huet
With Domaine Huet in Vouvray, in the Loire Valley near Tours, one of the great Chenin Blanc stories begins. Victor Huet and his son Gaston founded the estate in 1928; today it covers about 30 hectares across three mythical lieux-dits: Le Haut-Lieu, Le Mont and Clos du Bourg. Here soil is not background but score: clay over tuffeau at Haut-Lieu, flint-rich perruches at Le Mont, and shallow earth directly over limestone at Clos du Bourg. Since 1988, biodynamic farming has formed part of the estate identity, not as a label, but as a way to sharpen the expression of plant, soil and vintage.
Huet understands Vouvray in every register, from sec to moelleux and liquoreux, always with the same discipline. The wines are shaped by hand-picking, careful selection and deep respect for acidity, ripeness and the cool nobility of Loire tuffeau.
