Gaspard Brochet
In Écueil, at the heart of the Montagne de Reims, Gaspard Brochet leads a young Champagne domaine with deep family roots. Parcels in Écueil, Villers-aux-Nœuds and Sacy give him a precise reading of Premier Cru terroirs, where chalk, sand and clay support Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier with distinct site character. He took over part of his father’s estate in 2017 and shaped it into an independent project of about 3.2 hectares across fourteen parcels. Some vines date from the 1950s and 1960s; since the 2022 vintage the vineyards have been farmed biodynamically, with manual work, natural compost and a preference for observation over routine.
Most cuvées are conceived by parcel and vintage. Spontaneous fermentations, élevage in wood, extended ageing on lees and low dosage allow the origin to remain central rather than decorative. The result is Champagne with artisanal precision, contemporary freedom and a strong commitment to terroir.
