This Glenfarclas Family Cask 1985 from refill sherry hogshead no. 2602 is a rare single cask from the family-run Speyside distillery. The whisky spent its entire maturation in the same cask and was bottled at natural cask strength without chill-filtration or colouring. On the nose it offers polished sherry, dried fruits, orange peel, nuts and gentle spice. The palate is oily, silky and layered, with flavours of raisins, fruitcake, malt and soft oak. The comparatively low cask strength adds elegance and drinkability, while the finish is long, warming and sherry-sweet. A characterful dram to savour slowly on special occasions.
