Grans-Fassian

At Grans-Fassian in Leiwen on the Mosel, Germany, family history reaches back to 1624. From that depth, Catherina Grans works with an idea that feels both purist and modern: great Riesling is not born from volume, but from site, patience and exacting vineyard care.

The vines are rooted in renowned Mosel crus such as Leiwener Laurentiuslay, Trittenheimer Apotheke and Piesporter Goldtröpfchen. Steep slate slopes, cool nights, river reflection and mineral weathered soils shape a style that takes VDP.GROSSE LAGE, village wine and estate wine seriously as levels of origin.

Since 1982 Grans-Fassian has also stood for a deliberate focus on top dry wines. Hand-picking, precise must handling, long élevage and a lucid understanding of Riesling create a Mosel voice that is elegant, pure and carried by fascinating mineral tension.
