Riesling Zehenthof Federspiel from Weingut Holzapfel grows on steep stone terraces around Weissenkirchen, where ancient rock soils give the wine its distinctive mineral edge. The grapes are gently pressed and fermented at cool temperatures to preserve purity of fruit and lively acidity. The bouquet combines apricot, white peach, citrus and meadow herbs with a stony backdrop. On the palate the Riesling is taut, juicy and dry, with cool freshness and an elegant, lingering finish. Its mix of fruit, spice and minerality makes it a flexible partner for fish, white meat, subtly spiced Asian dishes and traditional Wachau fare. A subtle streak of spice lingers on the palate.
