Jaunegg

On the Eichberg in Südsteiermark, Jaunegg represents a quiet, exacting vision of Styrian wine. Founded in 1975 by Johann and Johanna, the family estate has been shaped since 2003 by Daniel Jaunegg, whose work places origin, patience and trust in the vineyards at the centre. The vines grow near Leutschach at around 550 metres above sea level, where cool influences from the Koralpe slow the ripening season and preserve a finely drawn sense of place.

Gravel, sand, sandstone and weathered rock define a terroir that gives Sauvignon Blanc, Morillon, Pinot Blanc, Welschriesling and Muskateller clear identity without excess. Farming is organic, the grapes are harvested by hand, fermentation begins spontaneously, and the wines are given time on fine lees. Stainless steel, used wooden casks and glass demijohns are chosen according to the needs of each parcel, creating wines of calm precision, texture and unmistakable Südsteiermark character.
