Joh.Jos.Christoffel Riesling Erdener Treppchen Auslese 2007 0,75l

Riesling Erdener Treppchen Auslese from Joh, Jos, Christoffel comes from steep terraced slate slopes along the Mosel. Old vines yield very ripe grapes, often touched by botrytis, giving great aromatic intensity. The bouquet shows honey, candied citrus, ripe apricot, mandarin, black tea and gentle spice with a hint of smoke and herbs. On the palate the Auslese is concentrated and silky yet lifted by vibrant acidity that balances the natural sweetness. Flavours of exotic fruit, citrus peel and slate driven minerality echo for a long time. The finish is very long, layered and strikingly pure. A classic Mosel Riesling for special occasions, cheese courses, fine desserts and aromatic dishes with gentle heat.

Iconic sites such as Ürziger Würzgarten and Erdener Treppchen are defined by red slate and volcanic rock, and many Riesling vines are remarkably old, demanding handwork and rewarding patience....

The grape variety: Riesling

Riesling is a noble white grape famous for citrus fruit, stone fruit, floral notes and vibrant acidity. It can be dry, off-dry, sparkling or beautifully sweet.

Its freshness makes it ideal with seafood, pork, spicy Asian cuisine, cheeses and desserts. Riesling is one of the most expressive and versatile white wine grapes. Riesling
