La Vinya del Vuit

With La Vinya del Vuit in Gratallops, in Priorat, one of Spains most unusual wine projects began in 2001. Eight friends, including Sara Pérez, René Barbier, Ester Nin and other regional figures, found an old parcel in the Coll de Falset and chose to save it not as a brand, but as a shared cultural inheritance.

The vineyard covers about 4.5 hectares, shaped by old vines, llicorella slate, steep terraces and the dry energy of Priorat. Carinyena stands at the centre, while Garnatxa remains as historic companion; machinery is deliberately avoided, and the work is done by hand and mule, organically and with great patience.

La Vinya del Vuit is more manifesto than estate. The wine is conceived for long ageing, moving through barrel, concrete, demijohn and years of bottle rest. Priorat speaks here not through volume, but through memory: eight voices, one vineyard, radical respect for old vines and slate.
