Nehrer Chardonnay Krainer Leithaberg DAC 2021 0,75l

Chardonnay Krainer Leithaberg from Nehrer is sourced from old vines in the extensive Krainer slope and its Poschen sub‑site above St. Georgen. The interplay of limestone‑rich rock and bare primary rock shapes a distinctly mineral, tightly woven style. The bouquet combines yellow apple, citrus and ripe stone fruit with floral hints, biscuit and a touch of smokiness from barrel ageing. On the palate the wine is powerful yet taut, driven by ripe acidity and a fine, creamy texture. Oak is used with precision, supporting rather than masking the salty minerality. A long finish with mandarin zest, apricot and subtle nuttiness underlines the wine’s ageing potential.

Nehrer

On the southeast slopes of the Leithagebirge, in St. Georgen near Eisenstadt, Nehrer bottles the unmistakable signature of Leithaberg. The family estate shifted to full-time winegrowing in 1962; today Johannes Nehrer leads the third generation, farming around 20 hectares organically and aiming for wines that reflect origin without compromise....

The grape variety: Chardonnay

Chardonnay is a globally renowned white grape from Burgundy, capable of crisp, mineral, creamy or oak-aged styles. Its flavours range from citrus and apple to peach, butter, nuts and toast.

It pairs with seafood, chicken, creamy pasta, mushrooms, lobster and soft cheeses. Chardonnay is exciting because it can be beautifully simple or profoundly complex.
