Orbita Venus
With Orbita Venus in Montsant, Catalonia, a young project circles around two major regional names: Sara Pérez and René Barbier Jr. Born from the experience of Venus la Universal and the Priorat renaissance, it treats Montsant not as a neighbour’s shadow, but as its own lighter, more agile universe. The vineyards lie on Mediterranean slopes, often with old Garnacha and Cariñena vines, some ungrafted and deeply rooted in spare soils. Biodiversity, natural cycles and lunar rhythms belong to the way of working; fermentations are spontaneous with vineyard yeasts, in cement and wood, with little or no sulphur.
Orbita Venus seeks finesse rather than weight. The wines translate Montsant naturally: bright energy, lower alcohol, respectful élevage and a vibrating closeness to slate, herbs and dry wind. Catalonia appears here as mobile, free and unforced.
