Poggio di Sotto Rosso di Montalcino: The Essence of True Craftsmanship
Poggio di Sotto’s Rosso di Montalcino is essentially a younger sibling of the estate’s Brunello, crafted from organically grown sangiovese on the slopes near Castelnuovo dell’Abate. Fermented with native yeasts and matured in large Slavonian oak casks, it combines structure with graceful finesse. The bouquet offers sweet red fruits, sour cherry, rosehip and hints of liquorice and dried herbs. On the palate the wine is silky yet taut, carried by bright acidity and finely chiselled tannins. This Rosso delivers impressive depth while remaining wonderfully approachable, making it a superb match for slow-cooked meats, risotto and richly sauced pasta dishes. Its understated power offers a perfect introduction to the estate’s distinctive style.
