Discover the character of Prieler Merlot Schützner Stein
Merlot Schützner Stein from Prieler is grown on a stony limestone hill at the edge of the Leitha range near Schützen am Gebirge. The meagre, rocky soils and cool breezes yield small, highly concentrated berries. The nose opens with dark cherry, blackberry and stewed plum, layered with notes of tobacco, cocoa and wild herbs. On the palate the wine is powerful yet cool in expression, with dense but fine tannins and invigorating freshness. Ageing in barrique adds gentle toast and a smoky nuance while keeping the fruit at centre stage. A serious Merlot to pair with braised beef, game dishes or richly spiced vegetarian cuisine.
