Volnay Clos des Santenots from Jacques Prieur comes from a monopole Premier Cru famous for its refined Pinot Noir. The vineyard sits on the border with Meursault and combines firm structure with the silkiness that defines classic Volnay reds. The bouquet reveals black cherry, blackberry and dark berries layered with notes of licorice, tobacco, cocoa and subtle spice. On the palate the wine is dense, juicy and elegant, with ripe, racy tannins. Lively acidity adds tension and keeps the finish long and mouth-watering. Spicy, fruity echoes of dark chocolate and red berries linger on. A superb partner for duck, lamb or slow-braised beef dishes.

Ageing in new oak brings creamy texture, ripe fruit and fine spice to the Volnay.
