Quintarelli Giuseppe

At Quintarelli Giuseppe in Negrar, in Veneto and the heart of Valpolicella Classica, wine becomes an art of time. Giuseppe “Bepi” Quintarelli took over the family work in the mid twentieth century and turned Cerè near Negrar into one of Italy’s quietest icons.

The vines grow on the hills north of Verona, where limestone, basalt, slope winds and the old knowledge of appassimento set the rhythm. Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara form the classical language, joined by Cabernet, Nebbiolo, Croatina or Sangiovese when the vintage calls for it.

Quintarelli trusts no quick effect. Long drying, slow fermentation, large wooden casks, handwritten labels and severe selection turn Amarone, Recioto and Valpolicella into forms of Veneto memory: deep, patient and marked by a dignity that refuses fashion.
