Scacciadiavoli Montefalco Sagrantino showcases Umbria s most characterful grape in pure form. The grapes come from steep hillsides around Montefalco and are carefully harvested by hand. The bouquet is intense, with dark cherry, wild berry and red citrus notes layered with undergrowth, balsamic tones, cocoa and spice. On the palate the wine is powerful, dense and firmly tannic yet precise and vibrant. Fresh acidity supports the rich fruit and points to excellent ageing potential. The very long, spicy-balsamic finish makes it a superb match for slow-cooked meat dishes, lamb and mature cheeses.
Ageing in barrels and large French oak vessels gives the Sagrantino power, tannic structure and spicy depth.
