Wenzel Michael Pinot Noir Analogue N°4 2021 0,75l

Pinot Noir Analogue N°4 by Michael Wenzel comes from the cool Kleiner Wald vineyard near Rust, where vines are grown as single stakes on poor limestone soils. The grapes are fermented spontaneously on their skins and the wine is bottled unfiltered and without added sulphur, highlighting its natural style. On the nose it opens with red berries, cranberry and cherry alongside earthy tones, undergrowth and gentle spice. On the palate this Pinot is juicy yet firm, with vibrant acidity, fine tannins and a cool, precise fruit character. The texture shows a light grip and the flavours move between fresh fruit, earth and subtle smoky notes. A characterful Burgenland red that is best served slightly chilled with charcuterie, roast poultry or imaginative vegetable dishes.

Spontaneous skin fermentation and unfiltered bottling make the Pinot Noir feel pure, wild and direct.

Wenzel Michael

On the shores of Lake Neusiedl in Rust, Burgenland, Wenzel Michael champions a grape many had written off: Furmint. From a town once famed for Ruster Ausbruch, the family has grown vines for generations, and in the 1980s—under the Iron Curtain’s shadow—they brought historic Furmint material back to Austria to reframe local identity....

The grape variety: Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is a refined red grape known for red cherry, raspberry, floral notes, spice and silky tannins. It is most famous in Burgundy but thrives in many cool-climate regions.

It pairs beautifully with duck, roast chicken, mushrooms, salmon, pork and game birds. Its fascination lies in finesse, fragrance and the way it expresses origin.
