M.Chapoutier Châteauneuf du Pape rouge Barbe Rac 2023 0,75l

M. Chapoutier Châteauneuf-du-Pape Barbe Rac comes from a single parcel of very old grenache vines planted on the famous galets roulés of the appellation. Farmed biodynamically, the vineyard gives naturally tiny yields and intensely flavoured berries. The bouquet explodes with ripe strawberry, black cherry and raspberry, lifted by notes of orange zest, cocoa, nougat and garrigue herbs. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, dense and concentrated yet remarkably precise, with powerful but ripe tannins and a subtle mineral edge. The impressive depth and very long, spicy finish mark Barbe Rac out as a great Châteauneuf-du-Pape for special occasions, game, lamb and slow-cooked dishes.

Ageing in concrete tank preserves the juicy fruit and harmoniously integrates the dense Grenache structure.

M.Chapoutier

In Northern Rhône, the Maison M. Chapoutier has shaped the Côtes du Rhône Nord since 1808—then rewrote its modern chapter in 1990 when Michel Chapoutier took the helm. Biodynamic farming, living soils and meticulous parcel work define their steep slopes from Hermitage to Saint‑Joseph and Cornas, on granite, rolled stones and clay‑limestone seams....

The grape variety: Grenache

Grenache, also called Garnacha or Garnatxa, produces warm, fruit-driven red wines with raspberry, strawberry, spice, soft tannins and Mediterranean character.

It pairs with lamb, grilled meats, tapas, vegetable stews, barbecue and herb-rich dishes, and is also central to many GSM blends. Grenache
