Château Rieussec in Sauternes is a Premier Cru Classé and one of the leading names in sweet white Bordeaux. On sandy, gravelly soils around Fargues grow mainly sémillon with sauvignon blanc and muscadelle, grapes that develop noble rot and intense concentration. The wine offers scents of honey, apricot, peach, candied orange and tropical fruit, accented by vanilla and caramel from barrel ageing. On the palate it is rich, creamy and unctuous, yet lifted by vibrant acidity. The long, luscious sweetness feels luxurious rather than heavy. It is a classic match for foie gras, blue cheeses, fruit-based desserts or spicy dishes that play with sweet-and-savoury contrast.
