Conterno Fantino Barbera d'Alba Vignota doc 2023 0,75l

Barbera d'Alba Vignota from Conterno Fantino is sourced from vineyards around Monforte d'Alba planted on limestone- and clay-rich soils that are farmed organically. The barbera grapes are fully destemmed, fermented at controlled temperatures and matured in oak barrels, adding depth and gentle spice. The nose opens with dark berries, blackberry and plum alongside sour cherry, sloe and earthy herbal hints. On the palate Vignota is juicy and concentrated yet easy to drink, driven by vibrant acidity and polished tannins. A long, fruit-and-spice-led finish with touches of laurel, juniper and cocoa makes this barbera a flexible partner for antipasti, pasta with ragù, grilled meats and rustic everyday dishes. It lingers on the palate with real persistence.

Ageing in large wooden casks gives the Barbera added harmony and fine spice without covering its juicy fruit.

The grape variety: Barbera

Barbera is an Italian red grape, especially important in Piemonte. It gives juicy wines with cherry, plum, bright acidity, soft tannins and savoury spice.

The grape is exciting because it is both accessible and serious. Barbera pairs beautifully with pizza, pasta, tomato sauces, pork, mushrooms and hard cheeses. Barbera
