Barolo Mosconi Vigna Ped is sourced from a roughly one-hectare parcel in the Mosconi cru above Monforte d'Alba, where nebbiolo grows on a mix of sand, silt and clay. The grapes yield a highly concentrated must that is aged in French oak after fermentation. The bouquet combines red and dark fruit – cherry, forest berries and elderberry – with liquorice, toasty oak and a hint of dark bread. On the palate Vigna Ped is intense, juicy and multi-layered, its chalky but ripe tannins balanced by lively acidity. A long, fruit-driven finish with notes of rose petals, spice and subtle minerality marks this Barolo out as a characterful partner for braised beef, game, savoury mushroom dishes and mature cheeses.
