Michele Chiarlo Barbera d'Asti LA COURT Nizza Riserva 2017 0,75l

La Court Nizza Riserva from Michele Chiarlo is a flagship Barbera from the hills of Monferrato and is made entirely from hand‑picked grapes. The bouquet is ample and complex, with black cherry, small dark berries and plum layered with cocoa, coffee and a touch of mint. On the palate the wine is rich and velvety, showing concentrated fruit wrapped in polished tannins. Lively Barbera acidity keeps the generous body fresh and energetic. The long finish echoes dark berries, balsamic notes and fine spice. A superb Nizza DOCG for braised beef, game dishes, truffle cuisine and aged cheeses.

Barrique ageing brings spice, cocoa and coffee nuances to the powerful Barbera structure.

Michele Chiarlo

When the Monferrato hills sink into morning mist, Michele Chiarlo turns Barbera into a true calling card of Piemonte. Since 1956, the family has built a patchwork of sites around Calamandrana, pursuing a balance of cru thinking and modern precision, vintage after vintage....

The grape variety: Barbera

Barbera is an Italian red grape, especially important in Piemonte. It gives juicy wines with cherry, plum, bright acidity, soft tannins and savoury spice.

The grape is exciting because it is both accessible and serious. Barbera pairs beautifully with pizza, pasta, tomato sauces, pork, mushrooms and hard cheeses. Barbera
