Lo Zoccolaio Barbera d´Alba Sucule 2004 0,75l

Lo Zoccolaio Barbera d’Alba Superiore Suculé is made from 100% Barbera grown in estate vineyards in Barolo and Monforte d’Alba. The vines are planted on marl and limestone soils that give structure and tension. After gentle crushing and fermentation, the wine matures for an extended period in French barriques before further ageing in bottle. The bouquet shows deep ruby colour with aromas of varietal rose, ripe red fruits and vanilla. On the palate it is fresh, full and harmonious, with vibrant acidity and long, spicy persistence. A distinctive Piedmont red to serve with rich pasta, roasts or grilled beef.

18 months in French barriques shape spice, dark fruit and structure, followed by further bottle ageing.

Lo Zoccolaio

In the Langhe, where Barbera d’Alba gains tension on limestone and marl, Lo Zoccolaio speaks with the voice of a true cascina. Vineyards around Bricco di Barolo sit warm on a south‑west aspect between Barolo and Monforte d’Alba, yet elevation and cool nights keep freshness and definition firmly intact....

The grape variety: Barbera

Barbera is an Italian red grape, especially important in Piemonte. It gives juicy wines with cherry, plum, bright acidity, soft tannins and savoury spice.

The grape is exciting because it is both accessible and serious. Barbera pairs beautifully with pizza, pasta, tomato sauces, pork, mushrooms and hard cheeses. Barbera
