Domaine des Sénéchaux

On the plateau of Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape in the Southern Rhône (Côtes du Rhône), Domaine des Sénéchaux draws its name from Les Bois Sénéchaux, a key plot at the heart of the appellation.

Its roots reach back to the 14th century and the Avignon papacy. The estate took its modern shape in the 1950s under the Raynaud family, was restored under Pascal Roux, and has been driven since 2006 by the Cazes family, joined in 2018 by the Pradon family, with Bernard Tranchecoste overseeing the vines and cellar.

Across 27 hectares and five blocks, the reds are anchored by Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre on south and south‑west facing slopes. White grapes sit at the highest point, kept cooler by exposure. Beneath rounded pebbles lie clay bases that retain water, while subsoils shift between limestone‑clay, sandy limestone and deeper sands. With the mistral, this is terroir that demands resilience and rewards measured precision.
