Duluc de Branaire Ducru

In the heart of Saint-Julien in the Médoc, Duluc de Branaire-Ducru expresses the more approachable side of historic Château Branaire-Ducru. The second wine comes from the same roughly 60-hectare vineyard, a mosaic of around fifteen micro-terroirs shaped by deep Quaternary gravel and siliceous alluvium with clay beneath. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the plantings, supported by Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.

Duluc takes its name from the Du Luc family, who built the neoclassical château in 1824. Since the Maroteaux family acquired the estate in 1988, work in vineyard and cellar has focused steadily on precision. Younger vines and lots not selected for the Grand Vin form the basis of this Saint-Julien. Plot-by-plot vinification, temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats and gentle gravity handling preserve site expression, while maturation in French oak gives the wine the composed, classically Médoc character associated with the estate.
