Franz Hirtzberger’s Weissburgunder Smaragd comes from old vines in Axpoint, Setzberg and Steinporz and offers a powerful yet elegant Wachau expression of Pinot Blanc. The bouquet shows fresh pear, yellow orchard fruit and subtle citrus, wrapped in herbal nuances and gentle nutty notes. On the palate the wine is juicy and concentrated, with ripe fruit, a creamy mouthfeel and finely integrated acidity. Salty minerality from the paragneiss soils adds tension and impressive length. The finish is long, precise and fruit‑driven. A characterful Pinot Blanc to pair with roasted fish, veal, poultry or delicate mushroom dishes.
