Franz Hirtzberger Grüner Veltliner Axpoint Smaragd 2023 0,75l

Franz Hirtzberger’s Grüner Veltliner Axpoint Smaragd comes from a south-facing loess site below Spitz and combines impressive power with remarkable finesse. The bouquet shows yellow apple, greengage and ripe pome fruit alongside hints of pineapple, grapefruit and gentle tobacco spice. On the palate the wine is concentrated and velvety, with a touch of extract sweetness, juicy yellow fruit and the hallmark, peppery Veltliner spice. Ripe, perfectly integrated acidity and a fine mineral backbone give drive and length. Despite its richness, the wine remains vibrant and highly drinkable. A characterful Smaragd that pairs beautifully with roasted fish, veal, poultry or flavourful vegetable dishes.

Maturation in large oak casks supports complex fruit, spice and mineral length.

The grape variety: Grüner Veltliner

Grüner Veltliner is Austria's signature white grape, known for citrus, pear, herbs, white pepper and lively freshness.

It is superb with asparagus, schnitzel, seafood, salads and mildly spicy dishes, making it one of the most versatile white wine grapes.
