Glenfarclas 40 Year Old is a luxurious Speyside single malt matured entirely in Oloroso sherry casks. The nose opens with antique leather, walnuts, chocolate-covered raisins, orange zest and polished oak spice. On the palate a sweet wave of orange segments and milk chocolate is followed by burnt brown sugar and dark cocoa. The texture is oily, silky and highly concentrated yet never cloying. A long, dry finish delivers firm tannins, rich sherry character and lingering dark chocolate. A majestic old Glenfarclas best savoured neat on quiet, contemplative evenings.
