Grassl Philipp Zweigelt Classic 2024 0,75l

Zweigelt Classic from Weingut Grassl captures pure drinking pleasure from Carnuntum. Vines between seven and forty‑five years of age grow in south‑east‑facing sites on loam and gravel, providing fully ripe, aromatic grapes. The bouquet delivers intense cherry, red berries and a touch of violet. On the palate the wine is juicy and compact yet wonderfully easy to drink, with cool, spicy dark‑berry fruit and fine, ripe tannins. Balanced acidity and a soft, gently tapering finish make it a perfect everyday red for pasta, pizza, grilled meats or simple tapas with friends.

Ageing in used barriques and large oak casks rounds out the fruit and keeps the style approachable.

Grassl Philipp

In Göttlesbrunn, in Carnuntum, the estate behind Grassl Philipp is a third-generation family cellar that wears understatement like a credo. Vineyards such as Bärnreiser and Schüttenberg sit on gravel, limestone and loess, shaping wines that feel drawn from the hillside rather than designed....

The grape variety: Zweigelt

Zweigelt is Austria''s leading red grape, producing cherry-scented wines with soft tannins, fresh acidity and gentle spice. It is a crossing of Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent.

The variety is appealing because it is juicy, versatile and food-friendly. Pair Zweigelt with roast chicken, pork, schnitzel, burgers, mushrooms and mild cheeses.
