Jaunegg Chardonnay Sand & Schotter 2024 0,75l

This South Styrian Chardonnay reflects Daniel Jaunegg's precise, low-intervention approach, shaped by biodynamic farming and limestone-rich sand and gravel soils. The grapes are hand harvested, fermented spontaneously and matured for a long period on the lees. In the glass it is dry, focused and quietly expressive, with yellow apple, meadow herbs, a touch of blossom honey and a savoury saline line. Its texture is elegant rather than weighty, giving the wine freshness, depth and a clear sense of origin. Serve it with roasted fish, poultry, mushroom dishes or creamy vegetable plates. For anyone seeking Austrian Chardonnay with poise, it is a refined choice to order from Vinofant.

Jaunegg

On the Eichberg in Südsteiermark, Jaunegg represents a quiet, exacting vision of Styrian wine. Founded in 1975 by Johann and Johanna, the family estate has been shaped since 2003 by Daniel Jaunegg, whose work places origin, patience and trust in the vineyards at the centre. The vines grow near Leutschach at around 550 metres above sea level, where cool influences from the Koralpe slow the ripening season and preserve a finely drawn sense of place....

The grape variety: Chardonnay

Chardonnay is a globally renowned white grape from Burgundy, capable of crisp, mineral, creamy or oak-aged styles. Its flavours range from citrus and apple to peach, butter, nuts and toast.

It pairs with seafood, chicken, creamy pasta, mushrooms, lobster and soft cheeses. Chardonnay is exciting because it can be beautifully simple or profoundly complex.
