Joh.Jos.Christoffel Riesling Ürziger Würzgarten Auslese 2004 0,75l

Riesling Ürziger Würzgarten Auslese from Joh, Jos, Christoffel is drawn from steep slate terraces on the middle Mosel planted with old ungrafted vines. The red, iron rich slate of the site gives particularly spicy and complex Rieslings. The bouquet offers honey, candied citrus, ripe apricot, exotic nuances and fine herbal notes. On the palate the Auslese is dense and silky, its generous sweetness carried by vibrant acidity. Slate driven minerality and a gentle smoky hint add depth and tension. The finish is very long, pure and resonant. A classic Mosel noble Riesling for special occasions, fine cheese, elegant desserts and fragrant Asian inspired dishes.

Iconic sites such as Ürziger Würzgarten and Erdener Treppchen are defined by red slate and volcanic rock, and many Riesling vines are remarkably old, demanding handwork and rewarding patience....

The grape variety: Riesling

Riesling is a noble white grape famous for citrus fruit, stone fruit, floral notes and vibrant acidity. It can be dry, off-dry, sparkling or beautifully sweet.

Its freshness makes it ideal with seafood, pork, spicy Asian cuisine, cheeses and desserts. Riesling is one of the most expressive and versatile white wine grapes. Riesling
