Blaufränkisch Leithakalk from Kollwentz comes from the Point and Setz vineyards on limestone-rich loam at the Leithagebirge. The pannonian climate ensures full ripeness while preserving spicy freshness. Low yields and maturation in wooden casks give the wine concentration and structure. On the nose it shows blackberry, dark cherry, herbs and a touch of graphite. The palate is juicy, spicy and precise, with dense but fine tannins and a lively line of acidity. Distinct limestone minerality lends cool elegance and a long, savoury finish, making it an excellent partner for game, braised meats or rustic pâtés.
