Olaf Schneider’s Riesling Auslese Ungsberg comes from extremely steep slate slopes on the Mosel where very old vines dig deep into the rock. The bouquet combines ripe citrus, white peach and hints of passion fruit with delicate floral notes. Fine slate minerality and a touch of herbs underline the intense fruit. On the palate this Auslese is creamy and concentrated, with rich sweetness perfectly balanced by vibrant acidity. Subtle salty and medicinal nuances together with honeyed overtones add further depth. A noble sweet Riesling of great tension, wonderful with blue cheeses, fruit based desserts or savoured on its own in quiet moments.
