Sauvion Pouilly Fumé Les Ombelles is sourced from hillside vineyards around Pouilly-sur-Loire where Sauvignon Blanc thrives on marl and compact limestone soils. The Loire’s cool, semi-continental climate gives particularly pure, smoky-mineral whites. The bouquet offers delicate citrus, green apple, white flowers and a hint of flint. On the palate the wine is dry, linear and very elegant, combining juicy fruit with a cool, stony character. Crisp, precise acidity delivers great freshness and drive. A long, subtly saline finish makes it a classic match for fish, seafood and tangy goat’s cheese.
Where Atlantic air cools the Val de Loire, Sauvion has shaped a distinctly Muscadet-minded identity since 1935. With Château du Cléray at its heart in the Nantes vineyards, the house pairs close relationships to Sèvre et Maine parcels with the discipline of a long-standing Loire wine trade, guided today by a new generation of the Sauvion family....
