Schieferkopf Riesling trocken, Lieu dit Berg 2020 0,75l

Schieferkopf Riesling Lieu dit Berg comes from a steep single vineyard on rare blue schist soils in southern Alsace. The grapes are hand-picked and the wine is aged for several months in large traditional casks. The bouquet offers citrus, candied lemon peel and mirabelle plum with a subtle smoky edge. On the palate this Riesling is precise and taut yet rounded, driven by high but perfectly integrated acidity. A striking mineral character and salty nuances give great depth and length. Its concentrated, linear style makes it an impressive match for refined fish dishes, shellfish and aromatic vegetable cuisine.

Long ageing in large wooden casks rounds out the texture and highlights the salty, mineral depth of the Riesling.

Schieferkopf

Where blue schist breaks through the surface in Alsace, Schieferkopf in Alsace draws its unmistakable line: parcels such as “Fels” near Bernardvillé, steep, windswept and shallow-soiled, push the vines to root deep and speak with tension....

The grape variety: Riesling

Riesling is a noble white grape famous for citrus fruit, stone fruit, floral notes and vibrant acidity. It can be dry, off-dry, sparkling or beautifully sweet.

Its freshness makes it ideal with seafood, pork, spicy Asian cuisine, cheeses and desserts. Riesling is one of the most expressive and versatile white wine grapes. Riesling
