Schmidl Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Ried Kellerberg originates from one of the Wachau’s most iconic terraced vineyards, whose poor, sandy soils are marked by weathered gneiss. The bouquet is intensely spicy, with ripe fruit, subtle citrus notes and fine yeasty hints. On the palate this Veltliner is concentrated, juicy and wonderfully refreshing, offering flavours of honeydew melon, exotic passion fruit and gentle herbal spice. Its powerful structure is carried by vibrant acidity, giving the wine elegance and tension. Despite its richness the Smaragd remains precise and clearly defined. It is an outstanding partner for traditional Viennese dishes, crisp fried foods, flavourful fish and aromatic Asian-inspired cuisine.
With the Danube flowing beneath the ruins of Dürnstein, Wachau, the organic Weingut Schmidl carries a rare double heritage: bread and wine, shaped by generations.
