Schnabel-Ermihof Silicium 2023 0,75l

This skin-fermented orange wine from the Sausal in South Styria brings Chardonnay and Rheinriesling into a rare, expressive cuvée. The vines grow on poor siliceous primary rock soils, a setting that gives the wine tension and a clear sense of place. On the palate it shows layered, deep aromas, precise acidity and fine tannic grip. Karl and Eva Schnabel farm biodynamically and make their natural wines without technical manipulation or added sulphur. Open mash fermentation, ageing in oak and hand bottling in small batches underline the artisanal approach. It is especially convincing with Asian dishes, light meat, vegetables or mature spicy cheese. At Vinofant, it suits drinkers looking for vivid orange wine with structure and personality.

The grape variety: Chardonnay

Chardonnay is a globally renowned white grape from Burgundy, capable of crisp, mineral, creamy or oak-aged styles. Its flavours range from citrus and apple to peach, butter, nuts and toast.

It pairs with seafood, chicken, creamy pasta, mushrooms, lobster and soft cheeses. Chardonnay is exciting because it can be beautifully simple or profoundly complex.
